HULL COMPATIBILITY
Holographic comms fail badly. They freeze mid-sentence, they drop to a blank plate, or they keep showing a smooth animated loop of someone who stopped talking forty seconds ago. The HCR-3 is designed around degrading honestly instead.
Four tiers, automatically
Full body at good signal. Half body — head and shoulders, higher fidelity per bit — when the lane tightens. Voice when it tightens further. Text when nothing else will get through. The relay steps down without dropping the session and tells both ends what tier they are on.
Encryption that rotates
A 2048-band rotating subspace key, re-keyed per session. Standard on every unit, not an upgrade. We take the position that unencrypted comms are a defect, not a budget option.
The array folds
The six-metre deployable array stows flat against the hull for docking and atmospheric operations. Deployment takes eleven seconds and the relay will refuse to deploy inside a docking envelope, which has saved several customers a very expensive scrape.
Fitting notes
Dorsal mount with clear sky in the upper hemisphere. Interfaces with any standard comms bus. For fleet operators, the HCR-3 supports relay chaining to extend effective range across multiple hulls.
