Acme Space has manufactured starship and satellite subsystems from Luna Free Port since 2179. We are privately held, moderately sized, and stubborn about specifications.
Why we publish the bad numbers
The commercial habit in this industry is to publish typical performance and let the customer discover the floor in service. We publish the floor. It costs us contracts against competitors quoting optimistic figures, and it means our customers can plan around what our hardware actually does on its worst day.
When we say a pattern buffer holds ninety-four minutes, that is the lowest result across forty destructive tests at the bottom of our power tolerance band. The typical figure is nearer a hundred and ten. We do not print the typical figure, because nobody plans a rescue around a typical figure.
What we will not sell you
We decline roughly one order in six on our restricted lines. Usually the operating region is outside the fourteen jurisdictions where civil operation is permitted, or the vessel class is not eligible, or somebody has asked us to remove a safety interlock. That last category we report.
We would rather answer forty compliance questions than process one return from a jurisdiction where the unit should never have been shipped.
Consumables are not a secret
Every drive has a damper. Every recycler has a cartridge. Every coil has segments that wear. Manufacturers who bury these in a service manual are not selling a lower-maintenance product; they are selling the same product with a surprise in it. Ours are named, priced, stocked and designed to be replaced without a drydock.

Started as a machine shop cutting replacement thruster bells for the lunar freight trade.
First motivator line
The HD-1 shipped to eleven customers. Nine of those hulls are still flying under later owners.
Drydock 12 opened
Our own refit facility, so the people who build the parts also fit them and hear about it when they do not fit.
The dilithium contraction
Eleven months unable to ship coils. Produced the dual-qualification policy we still run.
Published specification policy
Formal commitment to publishing measured floors rather than typical figures across every product line.
Thirteen active lines
Propulsion, defence, handling, avionics, life support and airframe, with consumables stocked for all of them.
