Ground you cannot land on is the most common reason a delivery does not happen. The RLS-9 lowers the effective footprint pressure of a heavy hull enough to change which surfaces count as a landing site.

Sixty percent of the load, carried by field

The repulsor assist takes up to 60% of static load, dropping surface pressure to 0.9 kg/cm² — below the bearing capacity of most unimproved regolith and a good deal of soft ground. The strut carries the rest mechanically, so a repulsor failure is a hard landing, not a collapse.

Self-levelling to fourteen degrees

Each strut compensates independently for up to 14° of terrain slope, and the set negotiates between themselves to keep the deck level. The crew sees an attitude readout and, ideally, nothing else worth noticing.

The damper is a cartridge

Landing dampers are consumables that get treated as permanent fixtures, usually until one fails on touchdown. The RLS-9's damper is a cartridge, replaceable in the field with no jack and no lift, and the strut reports its remaining cycles.

Fitting notes

Sold individually; most hulls run three or four. Requires a rated hardpoint and a 90 kW tap per strut for the repulsor. Compatible with all Acme Space airframe interfaces.
